For these reasons and a myriad of others, I love the old hymns. So, given the rich resource that Best has described, and even my own rich heritage with hymns, why would I challenge us to integrate what is best about hymn-based worship with the ongoing expression of what God is doing in worship today? Why not just shout a hearty “amen” and let’s get on with life as we’ve known it for the past hundred years? Three primary reasons come to mind.
